According to the proposed amendments to the Tax Code of Azerbaijan, specialists working in the fields of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and innovation will be exempt from income tax. This initiative aims to stimulate the development of these industries in the country.
As reported by Oxu.Az, the draft amendments provide that from July 1, 2026, and for the next 20 years, a zero income tax rate will apply to monthly income received from employed work. This applies to the following categories of specialists:
- Highly qualified migrants engaged in digital technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and innovation (excluding residents of technology parks).
- Persons who have had no tax obligations in Azerbaijan for the last 24 months or more, or who were non-residents of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
- Citizens of Azerbaijan returning to the country to work in the specified fields.
- Specialists of enterprises directly involved in research, design and survey, and experimental design work in these areas.
The purpose of these changes is to attract and retain highly qualified personnel, as well as to create favorable conditions for the development of an innovative economy in Azerbaijan.
