The population of Azerbaijan increased by 7,987 people, or 0.1 percent, from the beginning of 2024, reaching 10,270,338 as of May 1, 2024. This information was included in the publication of the State Statistical Committee reflecting the macroeconomic indicators of the country's economic and social development in January-May of this year.
The published data also indicate that the share of the urban population in the total population is 54.3 percent, while the share of the rural population is 45.7 percent. In terms of gender distribution, men constitute 49.8 percent of the country's population, and women account for 50.2 percent.
