According to information shared by outgoing Apple CEO Tim Cook in an interview with Wall Street Journal, the company plans to revise its pricing policy. The increase in product prices is linked to a significant rise in costs for purchasing memory chips and data storage systems.
This situation has arisen due to the rapid surge in demand for computing power, particularly from data centers that are actively developing artificial intelligence technologies. This trend has led to fierce competition for key components among manufacturers across various sectors, including automotive, electronics, and electrical engineering, which has caused a significant increase in prices for those components.
Unfortunately, the price increase is unavoidable. We are doing everything possible to absorb the enormous markups being passed on to us; we tried to protect our customers from this growth, but the situation has become untenable.
As a result, Apple, according to Cook's words, will be forced to adjust retail prices in order to compensate for the increased costs of components.
