On Thursday, August 6, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurred off the southern coast of the Philippines.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the epicenter of the earthquake was located approximately 99 kilometers southwest of Balut Island.

The tremors were recorded at 05:41 local time. The focal depth of the seismic event was at 10 kilometers.

Currently, no official information has been provided regarding casualties and damage resulting from the earthquake. Relevant agencies are reportedly monitoring the situation and clarifying details.

Note that the Philippines, located in Southeast Asia, is situated in a seismic zone known as the Pacific Ring of Fire. The region is distinguished by high seismic and volcanic activity. Therefore, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions occur regularly in the country.
