US Ambassador to Beirut Michel Issa stated that talks between Lebanon and Israel held in Rome are ongoing and expressed hope that the parties would achieve a positive result.
According to the diplomat, extensive technical work must be carried out to ensure the safety of the civilian population.
"There is a big difference between drafting an agreement on paper and implementing it responsibly. Hasty steps could jeopardize the safety of the civilians whom this process aims to protect," the ambassador emphasized.
He noted that it is essential to allocate sufficient time to this process to ensure that work in subsequent pilot zones is carried out more effectively.
As a reminder, at the end of July, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that the next round of talks between Lebanese and Israeli representatives would take place in Rome on August 4.
