The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted an operation in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah militants involved in an attack on its military personnel. Several militants were reported neutralized during the operation.
According to the IDF, an Israeli officer sustained moderate injuries during an armed incident in the Ali al-Taher area. Immediately after the event, the Israeli Air Force conducted a retaliatory operation. A targeted airstrike eliminated several Hezbollah militants involved in the attack. The military confirmed the successful completion of the operation shortly after the overnight firefight ended.
IDF Restricts Activity on Social Media
In addition, the IDF announced new restrictions on the activity of military units on social media. According to a directive signed by the head of the IDF press service, Brigadier General Effie Defrin, the activity of most military accounts on Instagram, Telegram, TikTok, and Facebook platforms will be suspended.
Under the new rules, only official IDF pages, service branches, commands, and central directorates will be permitted to post on social media. Divisions, brigades, and other headquarters structures will lose the authority to publish content independently.
According to the military establishment, the decision was adopted ahead of the upcoming Knesset elections to ensure the military’s status as a state institution, its political neutrality, and the unified dissemination of official information. Any exception to the rules will now be possible only with the personal approval of the head of the IDF press service.
