A new solar power plant (SPP) with an installed capacity of 250 MW will be built in the Absheron district of Azerbaijan. This was announced by the country’s Ministry of Energy.
The project is being implemented in partnership with the international company «Solaris International.» The total investment in construction is estimated at $200 million. Construction work is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2024, with commissioning of the facility expected by the end of 2026.
The construction of the new SPP is part of the state strategy to diversify energy sources. Azerbaijan’s goal is to increase the share of renewable sources in electricity production to 30% by 2030.

This was stated by Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, commenting on the initiative.
