Venezuela experienced a series of two earthquakes, causing significant destruction. The coastal city of Catia La Mar and the state of La Guaira were particularly affected.
According to the latest data, the death toll in La Guaira state alone has risen to 105 people. Additionally, 1520 injuries have been reported as a result of the natural disaster.
Rescue operations are complicated by the scale of the destruction. Nearly 10 hours after the tremors, rescue teams have not yet been able to reach all collapsed buildings. Local residents are independently searching for survivors under the rubble and compiling lists of missing persons on social media. The arrival of international rescue teams is expected to assist in the search efforts.
