A powerful storm accompanied by winds exceeding 100 km/h has caused severe damage across several regions of Brazil. According to local media, at least five people have been killed, while critical infrastructure has suffered significant damage.

The severe weather has triggered widespread power outages in different parts of the country. Public transportation has been disrupted in the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, with flight delays reported and maritime transport services significantly affected.

The extreme weather also forced the temporary closure of the Port of Santos, the largest seaport in Latin America. Strong winds and high waves led authorities to suspend port operations and halt all passenger ferry services as a precaution.

In response to the emergency, the São Paulo state government has activated an operational crisis management center. Forecasters say the storm is expected to continue through Thursday, bringing heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and hail, significantly increasing the risk of flooding.

Authorities have urged residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary and to follow official weather warnings.
