Israeli scientists have launched clinical trials of a new experimental treatment for pancreatic cancer. This is the first clinical study in the world to evaluate this specific therapeutic approach.
The new treatment was developed in Israel and targets mutated KRAS genes, which play a key role in the growth and spread of cancer cells. The method is based on the use of RNA (ribonucleic acid) molecules designed to suppress the activity of these genes.
As part of the clinical trials, the experimental RNA therapy will be administered alongside standard treatment methods. The study is primarily aimed at evaluating the safety and effectiveness of the therapy in patients diagnosed with locally advanced pancreatic cancer.
Experts believe that if the trials prove successful, this approach could mark a new stage in the treatment of pancreatic cancer and may later be used to treat other cancers associated with KRAS mutations.
