Los Angeles’ oldest synagogue, Wilshire Boulevard Temple, has filed a lawsuit against three anti-Israel organizations, alleging they coordinated the disruption of a public event held at the synagogue on December 3, 2025.
The lawsuit, filed on July 10, names Turtle Island Liberation Front LA, People’s City Council LA, and Koreatown 4 Palestine as defendants. It also identifies four individuals by name, along with 40 unidentified participants.
According to the complaint, protesters blocked access to the building, prevented attendees from entering, intimidated participants, and damaged synagogue property.
Why did the event spark protests?
The disputed event was a symposium focused on strengthening public safety for the Jewish and Korean communities. The organizers included the Israeli Consulate General in Los Angeles, the Jewish Federation Los Angeles, and the Korean American Federation.
The protest was prompted by a planned presentation on artificial intelligence by a representative of the Israeli defense company Elbit Systems.
On the morning of the event, protesters formed human barricades and blocked access to a parking lot serving approximately 40 vehicles. The lawsuit alleges that they verbally abused attendees and physically prevented some of them from entering the synagogue.
Vandalism and arrests
Court documents state that acts of violence and vandalism also occurred inside the building.
One of the defendants, Ray Wu Corpus, allegedly smashed a vase and threw it toward the Israeli Consul General. He was later arrested on vandalism charges.
Another defendant, Kuen Ballak, was taken into custody for allegedly assaulting a security guard.
A third individual named in the lawsuit, Jason Reidy, allegedly pounded on the synagogue’s glass doors while carrying an infant strapped to his chest.
Synagogue: A dangerous escalation of antisemitic violence
As a result of the incident, the synagogue was forced to temporarily close its social services center, which provides assistance to the local community.
The plaintiffs argue that the events of December 3, 2025, represent a dangerous escalation of antisemitic violence and are seeking to hold all those responsible legally accountable.
