Archaeologists in Jerusalem have unearthed a rare Judean Pillar Figurine mold dating back to the First Temple period. The artifact was discovered during operations at the Tower of David, marking what experts consider one of the most significant excavations in the city in recent decades.

The discovery, dated to July 27, 2026, represents a major breakthrough in understanding ancient artifact production in the region.

"The discovery of the first mold for producing figurines dating to the First Temple period has generated tremendous excitement," stated Eilat Lieber, Chief Curator of the Tower of David Museum.

The mold offers researchers a rare glimpse into the methods used to create the Judean Pillar Figurines that were characteristic of the First Temple era.
