A preliminary report was received by the «112» emergency hotline of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) regarding four people in distress in an unguarded section of the sea near the Hovsan settlement in Baku’s Surakhani district, approximately one kilometer from the nearest water rescue station.
According to the ministry, divers from the State Service for Control over Small-Sized Vessels and Water Rescue were immediately dispatched to the scene and launched a search and rescue operation.
Thanks to the prompt rescue efforts, Aysel Aliyeva (born in 1985), Elmira Rustamova (born in 2009), and Nuray Rustamova (born in 2019) were successfully rescued.
During the search operation, divers recovered the body of Aylin Rustamova (born in 2013) from the water. The body was handed over to the relevant authorities.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations once again urged citizens to strictly observe water safety regulations, avoid swimming in unguarded and unauthorized areas, and refrain from entering the sea during windy weather conditions.
