The IDF press service reported that the Israeli Air Force carried out strikes on targets in southern Lebanon to eliminate an “immediate threat” to forces operating on the forward defensive line.
According to the army's statement, several rockets launched by Hezbollah towards an area where Israeli soldiers are located in southern Lebanon were intercepted on the evening of June 15. Air raid sirens were not activated in accordance with the current alert policy.
The IDF also reported that earlier on Monday, Hezbollah fired on Israeli soldiers using an anti-tank missile and mortar shells. No military personnel were injured in the shelling.
During the day, in four separate incidents, Israeli soldiers spotted several militants moving in vehicles and approaching IDF positions, creating, according to the army's assessment, an immediate threat. After the militants were detected, the Israeli Air Force, guided by ground forces, carried out pinpoint strikes against them.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier stated at a press conference that four militants were eliminated in Lebanon during the day.
The IDF stated that it will continue to act to eliminate immediate threats to its forces.
