The Israeli military has released new footage showing the destruction of underground infrastructure allegedly belonging to Hezbollah in the Ali al-Tahhar ridge in southern Lebanon.

Jnews.az reports that according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), forces of the 36th Division destroyed underground tunnel routes located in the Ali al-Tahhar ridge. Prior to the operation, the military established operational control both above and below ground in the area.

It was reported that the total length of the destroyed underground infrastructure was more than 2 kilometers. Dozens of Iranian-made rockets, various missile systems, and unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as machine guns, dozens of anti-tank missiles, hundreds of landmines, and explosive devices were discovered in the tunnels.

According to the Israeli military, the main command center of Hezbollah’s «Badr» unit was located in the underground complex. It contained command posts, ammunition rooms, and living quarters allowing fighters to stay for long periods. The IDF states that this infrastructure was built over approximately 20 years.

The Israeli military noted that the operation lasted several months. It was reported that during this time, Hezbollah members hiding in the area were given the opportunity to surrender, but they refused.

According to official information, some of the fighters in the tunnels were killed, while others managed to flee the area.

Israeli military spokesperson, Brigadier General Effi Defrin, described the operation in the Ali al-Tahhar ridge as a complex process involving ground maneuvers, deception, and special engineering operations. According to him, the forces of the 36th Division entered the ridge from an unexpected direction to gain control over the area, after which the tunnel infrastructure was cleared and prepared for destruction.

The destruction of the underground infrastructure was aimed at preventing Hezbollah from planning and carrying out attacks against the Israeli military from that area.
