In the first half of 2026, Israel became the world’s primary target for politically motivated DDoS attacks. The country accounted for 16.9% of all such incidents, an increase from 12.2% in 2025.
Jnews.az reports that according to a report by cybersecurity firm Radware, during the reporting period, hacker groups claimed responsibility for 784 attacks on Israeli organizations.
For comparison, Ukraine, which ranked second, faced 390 attacks, the US saw 359, and the UK recorded 285.
Radware analysts attribute the surge in cyber activity to geopolitical events. Specifically, in March 2026, following the escalation of the conflict with Iran, the number of reported global DDoS attacks per month increased by 103%, reaching 1,308 cases.
Approximately 60 groups participated in campaigns against Israel, the US, and Persian Gulf countries, including pro-Iranian, anti-Western, and pro-Russian entities. The most active participant was the pro-Russian group NoName057(16), which was responsible for 40.5% of all claimed attacks recorded by Radware’s monitoring system.
Government agencies remain the primary target for hackers, accounting for 37.2% of all attacks. Globally, the number of attacks on web applications grew by 110.6% compared to the first half of 2025.
Radware emphasizes that the presented statistics are based on public claims made by the groups themselves and monitoring data. Experts note that a claim of an attack does not always mean disruption of target systems.
