A new mechatronics specialization has been launched in the new academic year at the «Argentina» Experimental School located in the Kiryat Yovel district of Jerusalem.
Jnews.az reports that the new curriculum focuses on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technologies and combines mechanical engineering, electronics, programming, and control systems.
Students will build UAVs
The learning process will be based on combining theoretical knowledge with practical sessions. As part of the course, each student will independently design and build a remotely operated aircraft.
Graduates who complete the program will receive an expanded technological certificate amounting to 10 study units added to their Israeli matriculation certificate.
Both military and civilian technologies will be taught
The new track is led by a teacher with an engineering background and work experience at Israel Aerospace Industries.
STEAM coordinator and subject teacher Shiri Kohav stated that the program provides students with the opportunity to become familiar with advanced technologies used in both military and civilian sectors. According to her, this direction could create an important opportunity for teenagers to start professional careers in technology and industry in the future.
The implementation of the program is linked to the growing role of unmanned systems in modern times and the need to train qualified personnel for the technological sector.
Professional support for educators and methodical guidance for the project are provided by the «Prizma» Innovation Center.
Mayor of Jerusalem Moshe Lion supported the initiative, calling the launch of the program an important step for the development of the city’s education system.
