Israeli police have detained 8 people suspected of involvement in an act of vandalism committed at a mosque in the West Bank.
Jnews.az reports that the detainees are suspected of writing extremist graffiti on the walls of a mosque located near the city of Nablus.
Along with nationalist slogans, inscriptions directed against journalists from Israel’s KAN broadcasting corporation who prepare reports on extremism were also found on the mosque walls.
Statements directed against US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee were also found in the graffiti. The diplomat had previously strongly condemned the violence of extremist settlers in the West Bank, calling their actions «terrorism».
An investigation regarding the detainees is currently ongoing. Police are investigating all circumstances of the incident, as well as checking whether they were involved in other similar offenses in the region.
