A 2-month pre-trial detention measure has been selected for former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan.

Jnews.az reports that this information was released by Armenia's Anti-Corruption Committee.

It was reported that Robert Kocharyan is currently in the hospital. He was taken to the hospital in the morning due to health issues.

Kocharyan is accused of conspiring with others during his presidency to remove a number of socially and economically significant facilities from state ownership by abusing his official powers and acquiring them at prices significantly lower than market value.

According to reports, the former president was hospitalized on the day of his detention due to health problems and was later brought to court. It was reported that approximately seven hours after the court hearing began, he was taken back to the hospital.

Speaking to journalists in front of the courthouse, Kocharyan's son Levon Kocharyan said that doctors deemed it appropriate for his father to remain in the hospital rather than the courtroom.

“The court hearing continues. Doctors deemed it right for him to be in the hospital, not in the courtroom. Lawyers will continue the work. I think the court will issue a decision by morning,” Levon Kocharyan said.

It should be noted that on August 25, Robert Kocharyan's eldest son, Sedrak Kocharyan, was also detained and a pre-trial detention measure was selected for him as well.
