Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow during his official visit to Russia.
During the meeting, the current state and future development prospects of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia were discussed. The parties exchanged views on expanding political dialogue, trade and economic ties, as well as transport and humanitarian cooperation.
Regional and international agenda issues were also addressed during the talks. Special attention was directed toward the development of joint projects in the transport sector, including the expansion of the North-South international transport corridor's capabilities and new directions for economic cooperation.
Speaking about the situation in the South Caucasus, Jeyhun Bayramov stated that the new realities that emerged in the region after the Second Karabakh War were formed based on the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of internationally recognized borders.
The meeting also covered the situation in the Middle East and processes surrounding the Russia-Ukraine war. The parties emphasized the importance of continuing diplomatic dialogue and adhering to international law norms to ensure peace and stability.
At the conclusion of the talks, a consultation plan for 2026-2027 was signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The document provides for the continuation of cooperation and the further strengthening of mutual consultations between the foreign policy agencies of the two countries.
