Syrian police have seized a shipment of weapons and ammunition intended for delivery to the Hezbollah group in Lebanon.
According to the Syrian Ministry of Interior, security forces stopped a suspicious vehicle during an operation at the Syria-Iraq border. During the search, various types of military equipment were discovered in the cargo area, including missiles, anti-tank guided weapons, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The ministry stated that preliminary investigations determined the seized weapons were planned to be transported through Syrian territory to Hezbollah in Lebanon. It was noted that investigations into the incident are ongoing, and a search for individuals involved in the smuggling network has been launched.
The statement also emphasized that preventing the use of Syrian territory for arms smuggling remains one of the security priorities.
It should be noted that the group denies allegations regarding Hezbollah's activities in Syria.
