In brief
The 1945 film Arshin Mal Alan made Rashid Behbudov famous overnight. Tours in dozens of countries and songs in many languages followed.
In 1966 he founded the Azerbaijan State Song Theatre in Baku, fusing stage, orchestra and song programme into one form.
