The Israeli side expressed its readiness to provide search-and-rescue assistance and other necessary aid.
On August 10, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia. The natural disaster caused severe destruction in the country's coffee-growing region, including the cities of Cali and Pereira. Rescuers continue searching for survivors under the rubble. According to the latest reports, the death toll has reached at least 250.
Israel's decision to send aid comes at a time of rapprochement between the two countries. Colombia's new government has taken a series of steps aimed at strengthening ties with Israel.
Previously, Colombia announced its recognition of Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
