U.S. Michigan State Senator Jeremy Moss won the Democratic primary for the U.S. House of Representatives seat in the 11th Congressional District.

J. Moss will be the Democratic Party nominee replacing Haley Stevens, who previously represented this district and is running for the U.S. Senate.

According to preliminary results, with 97 percent of the ballots counted, Jeremy Moss gathered 49.5 percent of the vote. His main rival, attorney Aisha Farooqui, received 31.8 percent of the vote.

Following his victory, Moss made a post on the X social network, thanking his voters.

“Thank you, Oakland County! Being your Democratic nominee is the greatest honor of my lifetime,” he wrote.

Michigan’s 11th Congressional District covers Oakland County, located around Detroit. The size of the Jewish community in this region is high. The synagogue in West Bloomfield, located within the district, was severely damaged in an attack earlier this year.

Jeremy Moss has repeatedly spoken out against antisemitism throughout his political career. Although he did not make Israel-related policy a central focus of his campaign, he has repeatedly stated his support for a solution to the Middle East conflict based on a two-state principle.

During the election campaign, opponents attempted to link J. Moss to AIPAC, an organization that supports Israel. In an interview with Jewish Insider, the politician noted that these accusations could in some cases be assessed as a manifestation of antisemitism.
