Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reported that 433 people have been killed or injured in landmine explosions since the Second Karabakh War ended in 2020.

In a post published on the X social network, the ministry noted that the landmine threat in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories remains high.

The statement also recalled the landmine incident that occurred on August 3 in the Agdhere district. It was reported that two Azerbaijani citizens were severely injured after stepping on a landmine in the incident.

Against the backdrop of the incident, the MFA appealed to the international community to provide more active support for the clearance of landmines from Azerbaijani territories.

The ministry emphasized that this tragedy once again demonstrates the constant threat landmines pose to human life and the risks civilians face every day. The statement noted that there is an urgent need to strengthen international support to accelerate demining efforts. According to the MFA, a mine-free future is one of the key conditions for lasting peace, development, and human safety.
