Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to President of the Republic of Maldives Mohamed Muizzu on the occasion of Independence Day.
The letter reads:
"Dear Mr. President,
On my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan, I convey my most sincere congratulations and best wishes to you and your entire people on the occasion of the national holiday of the Republic of Maldives – Independence Day.
We are pleased with the current development dynamics of relations between Azerbaijan and the Maldives, and the expansion of our mutually beneficial cooperation. The launch of direct flights between the two countries, as well as the recent mutual visa exemption for citizens holding ordinary passports, has given a significant impetus to the development of people-to-people contacts, especially tourism.
I believe that we will continue to make joint efforts to strengthen friendly relations and enrich our mutually beneficial cooperation with new content between our countries, which are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.
On this remarkable day, I wish you good health, happiness, success in your endeavors, and everlasting peace and prosperity to the friendly people of the Maldives."
