Milli Majlis deputy Jeyhun Mammadov has proposed shortening the duration of master’s education from two years to one year.
Jnews.az reports that the deputy voiced this proposal at the meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Science and Education held on September 11.
Jeyhun Mammadov stated that thousands of admission seats remain vacant in master’s programs in Azerbaijan every year. According to him, in some years the number of vacant seats reaches 4,000 or more.
The deputy noted that one of the main reasons for this situation is young people’s reluctance to spend two years on master’s education. In his opinion, this duration of study is considered long for some young people.
Jeyhun Mammadov stated that reducing the duration of master’s education to one year could allow reducing the number of vacant seats and attracting more young people to master’s studies.
