Azerbaijan will continue to make additional efforts to establish and strengthen lasting peace in our region.
Jnews.az reports that Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, made this statement during his address to representatives of the diplomatic corps visiting the Cultural Center in the city of Khankendi.
«We are learning to live in peace and are moving forward in this direction. We have realized that living in peace is too great a feeling to be explained in words. Peace also begins with the reconstruction and restoration work carried out on the ground. Peace does not only mean the absence of conflict. Peace also means peacebuilding, building faith and trust in the reconstruction and restoration process,» Hikmet Hajiyev stated.
He expressed satisfaction that the recent meeting between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia took place in a very constructive atmosphere.
«As far as I understand, both sides have agreed to initiate bilateral interaction to further advance our peace agenda, strengthen trust between the two countries, as well as develop trade relations, including connectivity and transport links between the two countries and the wider region,» Hikmet Hajiyev noted.
The Assistant to the President also expressed satisfaction with the positive signs regarding the development of the trilateral concept.
Hikmet Hajiyev expressed his gratitude to American partners for demonstrating full commitment to the implementation of the project.
