An attempt to illegally transport drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan has been foiled. The incident took place on September 6 within the service area of the ‘Horadiz’ border detachment of the Border Troops of the State Border Service (SBS).

Jnews.az reports that as a result of border search and operational measures, a total of 38 kilograms and 778 grams of narcotics and 7,680 tablets of psychotropic ‘Methadone M-40’ were discovered and removed from illegal circulation.

The first incident was recorded at 01:30 AM. It was established that 21 kilograms and 700 grams of narcotics and 1,000 ‘Methadone M-40’ tablets were transported from the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

The second incident occurred at 04:10 AM. This time, a paraglider was used to transport narcotics into the country’s territory. As a result, 17 kilograms and 78 grams of narcotics and 6,680 ‘Methadone M-40’ tablets were discovered.

Operational-investigative measures regarding the facts are ongoing.
