President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree pardoning 852 convicts on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence.
As reported by Jnews.az , according to the decree of the President of Uzbekistan, 604 people are completely released from serving their sentence.
Another 115 convicts are released on parole. For 52 people, the sentence was commuted to a milder one, and for 81 convicts, the terms of imprisonment were reduced.
The list of pardoned individuals includes representatives of various categories of citizens. In particular, among them are 49 women, 37 men over 60 years old, and 375 young people. Also, 7 foreign citizens are included among those released.
It is specifically noted that the pardon affected 63 people who were previously convicted for participating in the activities of organizations recognized as banned in Uzbekistan.
Note that Uzbekistan’s Independence Day is celebrated on September 1.
