Azerbaijan and Russia have managed to form a positive trend in the economic sphere, despite current challenges in the global economy. This was stated on Friday, July 17, 2026, by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in an expanded format in Moscow.
According to the head of the Azerbaijani foreign policy department, the parties note the strengthening of bilateral ties and the development of cooperation in the economic sphere. An important element of this process remains the regular contacts of the Intergovernmental Commission, the 24th meeting of which took place in April of this year.
In this context, we believe that despite all the difficulties that exist in the global economy, the overall trend between our countries is positive. And today, we will probably dwell in more detail on the figures and indicators of 2025, as well as on those directions that are outlined for the near future.
The minister also emphasized that the humanitarian sphere is a traditionally important component of relations between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation. In addition, during the negotiations, the parties expressed their readiness to discuss the entire spectrum of regional and international agenda issues of mutual interest, including joint work on international platforms.
As reported by Report, the meeting of the ministers is taking place within the framework of the visit of the Azerbaijani delegation to the capital of the Russian Federation.
