From the National Hero title and a bust in Baku to a bas-relief in Agdam and his daughters' military service — a memory that continues.
The National Hero title
On 24 February 1993, by decree No. 476 of President Abulfaz Elchibey, he was posthumously named a National Hero of Azerbaijan “for personal courage shown in defending Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and its civilian population.”
Memorials

In 1992 an artillery division was named after him. A bas-relief was erected in the village of Kuzanly, Agdam district. On 25 February 2014 a bust of him was unveiled in Heroes' Park, Binagadi district, Baku.
Family
From his first marriage he had a son, Elshan Bagirov (b. 1970), a reserve officer. From his second marriage, to Valida Bagirova, came daughters Zumrud (a lieutenant colonel in the State Border Service) and Ainur (a captain in the State Border Service's medical corps), who continued their father's path into military service.
