President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on July 7 received a member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe and Regional Security, Senator Steve Daines.
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that following Donald Trump's election as US President for a second term, bilateral relations based on cooperation and mutual trust have developed successfully, noting that relations have reached the level of strategic partnership and that this is very important for both countries and the region.
The head of state recalled with satisfaction the visit of US Vice President J.D. Vance to Azerbaijan, noting the importance of signing the Strategic Partnership Charter between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United States during that visit in terms of expanding bilateral relations.
President Ilham Aliyev stated that his personal relations with Donald Trump are at a high level, emphasizing Trump's special role in advancing the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The head of state, noting that historic events have taken place since Senator Steve Daines' last visit to our country, expressed gratitude to the guest for his efforts in developing Azerbaijan-US relations.
Senator Steve Daines, for his part, said that relations between our countries have developed successfully in recent times, emphasizing that President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Washington last August was a landmark event.
The guest also noted Azerbaijan's important geopolitical role under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
Steve Daines expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the leadership he has demonstrated regarding the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the peace agenda.
During the conversation, the importance of the ZANGEZUR Corridor in terms of regional transport connections was emphasized, and views were exchanged on strengthening dialogue between Azerbaijan and the US Senate and the prospects of partnership.
