The international art exhibition MAMA 'Mother Nature' has opened at the Pons Foundation building in Madrid. The event, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in collaboration with the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Spain, was attended by Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, Arzu Aliyeva, members of the diplomatic corps, and figures from the arts and public sectors.

The project was inspired by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder of the IDEA Public Union. The exhibition was first presented in 2024 at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku as part of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). Since then, the project has been showcased in Manama, Rome, London, Tbilisi, Berlin, Tirana, Geneva, and Riga.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Spain Ramiz Hasanov noted in his speech that the project explores the deep connection between art and humanity, focusing on modern environmental challenges. He expressed hope that the exhibition would foster not only an interest in art but also a sense of responsibility toward the environment among visitors.

Luis Fonseca Sánchez, Director General for North America, Eastern Europe, Asia and the Pacific at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized that cultural dialogue opens new opportunities for cooperation between countries. He also noted that Spain possesses vast protected natural areas, which underscores the importance of preserving biodiversity for local society.

Leyla Aliyeva, speaking at the ceremony, recalled the project's mission: 'Nature is our mother. It gives us land, water, and air. Despite all this, we humans continue to harm the gifts nature provides. This exhibition is another step toward a better future.'

The exhibition is open to visitors from September 9 to 18. It features works by contemporary artists from Azerbaijan, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Ukraine, Georgia, the United Kingdom, Germany, and other countries.
