The situation regarding dengue fever in Bangladesh is worsening, and the healthcare system is under severe pressure due to the rising influx of patients. Since the beginning of 2026, 42,590 people have been hospitalized in the country in connection with dengue fever, and 117 people have lost their lives.

Jnews.az reports that according to the Directorate General of Health Services of Bangladesh, four people have died from dengue fever in the past 24 hours, while another 1,558 people were hospitalized. This is the highest single-day hospitalization figure recorded since the beginning of 2026.

This brings the total number of dengue deaths in the country to 117, and the number of hospitalizations to 42,590. Currently, 2,995 dengue patients are receiving treatment in various hospitals.

Experts warn that the situation could worsen further in September. According to them, favorable weather conditions create conditions for the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes that spread dengue, and the spread of the disease could increase further in the coming weeks.
