A meeting was held at the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Ali Asadov, dedicated to the organization and conduct of the population census in 2029. Participants of the meeting discussed preparatory measures and the necessary administrative steps for the implementation of the project.
As reported by Report, the meeting reviewed in detail the tasks stemming from the decree of President Ilham Aliyev on conducting a population census in the Republic of Azerbaijan dated July 7, 2026.
Prime Minister Ali Asadov emphasized the special importance of the census as a key source of the most comprehensive data on the population. This information is necessary for an objective assessment of demographic processes and high-quality planning for the country's further socio-economic development.
The particular significance of the upcoming event lies in the fact that the 2029 census will, for the first time in the history of independent Azerbaijan, cover the entire sovereign territory of the country following the full restoration of its territorial integrity.
Data collection is planned to be carried out using modern digital technologies, as well as administrative and geospatial databases. A special Central Commission for Assisting the Population Census will be established for the effective coordination of all project preparation processes.
