In brief
Quba lies north of Baku at the foot of the Greater Caucasus: apple orchards, carpet weaving and roads into the mountain villages. Across the Qudyalchay river stands Krasnaya Sloboda.
Krasnaya Sloboda is one of the few compact Mountain Jewish settlements left: synagogues, quarters, a cemetery and centuries of community history.
