Maiden Tower
Baku's emblem: an eight-tier stone cylinder and the questions nobody has settled.
Place
The old town inside Baku's fortress walls — its lanes, baths and caravanserais.
How it will look: each site gets its own colour scheme and structure.
Icherisheher is the historic core of Baku: fortress walls, narrow lanes, the Shirvanshahs' Palace and the Maiden Tower packed into a few hectares. It is still a residential quarter rather than a museum set — people live behind the gates.
In 2000 Icherisheher, together with the Shirvanshahs' Palace and the Maiden Tower, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List — the first Azerbaijani site to make it.

A 15th-century palace complex: divankhana, mosque, bathhouse and the rulers' tomb.
The seafront where Baku has been unwinding since 1909 — now a park tens of kilometres long.
