The group's statement on Telegram noted that the military operation was conducted following the declaration of a naval blockade by Saudi Arabia amid the war between the US and Iran.
In parallel with the escalation of the conflict, the US signed a cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia on peaceful nuclear energy and a bilateral agreement on guarantees. According to the US Department of Energy, the documents were signed by the US Secretary of Energy and his Saudi counterpart on Wednesday.
