Following the completion of the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into Syrian state institutions and the announcement of the dissolution of the SDF, Syria’s internal security forces entered the center of the city of the same name in Hasakah Governorate, located in the northeast of the country.
Jnews.az reports citing local media that forces affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Interior will begin performing duties to ensure security in the city, which was previously under the control of the SDF.
The SDF announced on August 25 that it had ceased its activities as part of the integration process with the Syrian government. This process also includes the integration of SDF forces into the structures of the Syrian Ministries of Defense and Interior.
The deployment of internal security forces affiliated with the Syrian government to the city of Hasakah was provided for in earlier agreements. According to the agreement, state forces were to enter the centers of Hasakah and Qamishli and participate in the process of integrating security and administrative structures into the state system.
According to recent reports, the Syrian government is gradually expanding state control in the northeastern region.
