Israel and Colombia are strengthening bilateral relations after reaching agreements on security cooperation. As part of this cooperation, Colombian authorities will use Israeli technology to counter drug trafficking.
Against the backdrop of rapprochement between the two nations, discussions on further diplomatic steps have intensified in Bogota. Public figure Abelardo de la Espriella has proposed an initiative to fully restore official diplomatic ties between the countries.
De la Espriella’s plans also include opening a Colombian embassy in Jerusalem and reversing the position held by the South American nation at the UN International Court of Justice.
